Keeping yourself and your family healthy while people around you might have a case of the "sniffle and sneeze" requires that you get the best nutrition possible from the foods you eat. Therefore loading up on fruits, vegetables and foods with healthy nutrients is key!

You need to kick processed foods, grains, and sugar to the curb. Once you do that, your health and well-being will go a long way towards having a better and stronger immune system. However, there is more to be done! Select foods which have immune-boosting nutrients.

  • Garlic

Garlic is a superfood not to be reckoned with; it's an antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal! Garlic is a food that we should be consuming every single day, because bacteria, viruses, and yeast don't build up resistance to it, unlike antibiotics which we buy from drug stores today!

  • Blueberries and Raspberries

These two colorful fruits have very high antioxidant rates in comparison to other fruits and vegetables. Moreover, wild blueberries are actually potent immune boosters like no other! They hold phytochemicals that are very powerful, like anthocyanin (the blue pigment that gives blueberries their color). They also have low sugar when compared to many other fruits and vegetables.

  • Mushrooms

We realize that this earthy fungus is more of an acquired taste, but the truth is that mushrooms have a very positive impact on your immune system because they have high levels of calcium, protein, vitamin C, vitamin B and fiber and other minerals.

  • Tea

Having herbal teas is more beneficial to your body than you might think. In small portions and without white sugar, of course!  The most healthy types of tea are Matcha green tea and Tulsi tea.

  • Fermented Foods

Adding traditionally fermented foods can work wonders in helping boost your immune system! There are many healthful fermented foods that we can eat such as yogurt, olives, pickles, miso, sauerkraut and more.

It's by taking simple steps that we can achieve a healthier diet, one that helps us and our families stay strong and healthy. As we always say, nature is our best medicine cabinet and we all know that one apple a day, keeps the doctor away!

Stay Happy and Healthy, Amman!
